ASAGA (OHAFIA) DEVELOPMENT UNION CONGRATULATES PROF. UDUMA, WISHES HIM SUCCESS IN HIS NEW ROLE AS NOUN VC
The Asaga (Ohafia) Development Union (ADU) has extended its warmest congratulations to Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, Ugo-nmusa 1 of Asaga Ukwu Autonomous Community, following his appointment as Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
This was contained in a congratulatory message signed by Stanley Mba, the National Publicity Secretary of the association on Wednesday.
The association described the appointment as distinguished, a testament to Prof. uduma’s outstanding academic achievements, exceptional leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Nigeria.

“As you assume this new role, ADU pledges its continued support and cooperation, praying that you will be guided by wisdom, integrity, and vision as you lead NOUN to greater heights.”

Eze Dr Sunny Ukweni Congratulates Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma on NOUN Appointment
HRH Eze Dr Sunny Ukweni has extended warm congratulations to Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma on his appointment as Vice Chancellor of the National Open University (NOUN).
In a statement, the traditional ruler praised Prof. Uduma’s dedication to advancing open education and recalled his instrumental role in approving the Asaga Study Centre. “We celebrate your well-deserved appointment, recognizing your contributions to education,” Eze Ukweni said.
“We are confident you will steer NOUN to greater heights, expanding access to quality education for all Nigerians,” the statement added. The message wished Prof. Uduma success.”
Prof. Uduma’s appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders, who cite his academic excellence and leadership prowess. The Asaga Study Centre, approved through his efforts, is expected to boost education in Abia State.

International Day of the Girl Child: Neya Kalu Foundation Donates Educational Materials To Students Of Igbere Secondary School (PHOTOS)
In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Publisher of The Sun Newspaper, a distinguished businesswoman, lawyer, and philanthropist,Neya Uzor Kalu, on Friday October 10, showed kindness and supported to students of Igbere Secondary School in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
Speaking through her representative, Barrister Neya Kalu, represented by Mrs Oluomachi, reiterated her commitment to promoting education and empowering young girls to realise their full potential.

Mrs Kalu donated the sum of ₦500,000 to assist in the payment of school fees for Senior secondary school students of the school and also provided various educational and personal items, including school bags, sanitary materials, books, and other learning resources.

She said: “Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, to dream, and to become everything she aspires to be. Education is the greatest gift we can offer them, and it is the surest path to a better society.”

She further urged the students to remain focused and determined, regardless of the challenges they may face, noting that diligence and discipline are key to success.

Expressing their excitement, the students offered their heartfelt appreciation to Mrs Kalu for her generosity and unwavering commitment to their education and welfare.

Abia State Government Adjusts Postings For New Teachers
Abia state government has adjusted postings of the newly recruited teachers to suit those who made complaints about the places they were posted for various reasons.

This was made known by the state Commissioner for information, Prince Okey Kanu on Monday September 8 at the government house Umuahia, during a press briefing on the outcome of this weeks state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
The state spokesman informed that the state government has concluded the two weeks intensive training organised for the newly recruited teachers in the state to equip them for the 21st century teaching.

According to him, renovations and construction of public schools are ongoing, and at different stages of completion at 63 schools across the state.
He said these interventions underscore the state government’s commitment to creating and sustaining a conducive living environment that will position Abia State as a leading centre of education excellence in the country.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi announced that the final and updated posting of the newly recruited teachers would be published on Tuesday 9th September, 2025.
