SWAN Appoints Caretaker Committee For Abia State Chapter

Following the expiration of the grace period given by the National Secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigerian (SWAN) for State chapters that are yet to conduct elections, the National leadership of SWAN has appointed a three-man Caretaker Committee to spearhead its Abia State Chapter for a period of three months.

This was contained in an an official letter by the association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo.

Those appointed include Kingsley Chijioke Okwum as Chairman, Bethel Zephaniah Kalu – Secretary and Chigozie Nwosu – Member.

According to SWAN, the Caretaker Committee is expected to pilot the affairs of the chapter for three (3) months within which it is expected to conduct election of a new Executive Committee for the chapter.

According to the letter, the appointment took effect from Thursday, September 11 2025.

The association also directed the former Exco, led by Vincent Obike to immediately hand over all property of the Association in its possession to the Caretaker Committee.

It urged the Chairman and Members of the caretaker Committee to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their services to the Association and to humanity at large.
