Abia Police Disbands Quick Intervention Unit (QIU), Forms Strike Force (SF)

For a more effective policing and crime combating devoid of unprofessional conduct, the Abia State Police Command has announced the disbandment of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) following reported misconduct and unprofessionalism.

This was revealed in a statement signed by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Danladi Isa, introduced a new tactical unit called the Strike Force (SF).

The unit according to the Statement will have DSP Eze Augustine Eke as Commander and will serve as an Intervention Team aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

The release further said the Strike Force is comprised of well-trained, disciplined, and combat-ready officers who will be strategically deployed to combat crime in the state.

The Commissioner of Police warned the newly formed strike force to be professional and disciplined in their conducts and ensure strict compliance with the rule of law while carrying out their duties.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding professionalism in fulfilling the constitutional responsibilities of the police force, in line with the ideals and vision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Danladi further urged the citizens of Abia State to report police misconducts to the Complaint Response Unit of the Command through the following numbers: 09031593827, 09035401645.

It is hoped that the new team will combat crime, save lives and property and conduct their activities in a professional manner.
