Asaga-ukwu (Ohafia) Autonomous Community New Yam Festival To Hold October 4
The Asaga Ukwu Autonomous Community will on October 4, 2025 hold her new yam festival (Igba Ekpe) for the year 2025.
This was revealed by HRH Eze Dr Sunny Ukweni, Ezema II of Asaga Ukwu Autonomous Community.
According to the Autonomous ruler, the event will feature the commissioning of the school block at Uma Ukpai Primary school and Obu Nde Ekere compound, built by a son of the community, Mr Armstrong.
Meanwhile, Igba Ekpe Asaga will hold on Saturday September 6, 2025.
This was contained in a procedural arrangement authentically released from the Ezieogo Asaga Ohafia-in-Council and made available to Ogori TV.
According to the release, the traditional Eze Ji Asaga function took place on the 9th of September, 2025 while Eke Obi held on the 2nd of October and Ike Ji holds on October 3rd, 2025.
The Eze-ogo in council also said that Afor Igba Ajü will be held on September 4th, Ichóró Ji Agwugwa on September 5, Eke Ekpe will be held on Saturday September 6 while on the 8th of September, the Afor Dibia tradition will hold.
Other traditional programmes as lined up by the Eze-ogo in – council include:

* 12/09/2025 – Afór Ndi Akpan
* 14/09/2025 – Eke Igbugbu Ndi Akpan
* 16/09/2025 – Afór Ndi Ekpe
* 18/09/2025 – Eke Igbugbu Ndi Ekpe.
The festival which brings sons and daughters of the community from far and near is expected to bring union amongst peers, showcase the cultural heritage of the Asaga Ohafia people and re-energize the coexistence of the people of Amaetiti Uma Ukpai
