Lagos Speaker, Mojisola Meranda Reportedly resigns, CPS Debunks Rumour
Viral report on Wednesday says the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mojisola Meranda has resigned, after 38 days in charge.
According to the report, her resignation is coming two days after members of the house passed a vote of confidence on her leadership.
Recall, the Lagos State parliament has been embroiled in controversies since the impeachment of the former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
He was replaced by Rt. Hon. Meranda who became the first female speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly.
Following the purported resignation of Meranda, her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, debunked the rumour.
He said it is the handiwork of mischief makers working for the impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who have been commissioned to spread fake news on social media to mislead the public and maintain pressure on the current leadership of the House.
The clarification is coming on the heels of the viral report which resulted in mixed reactions among netizens.
