INEC Rejects ADA Party Registration, Says Requirements Must Be Fulfilled
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the proposed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) cannot be registered as a political party at this time due to its failure to meet necessary criteria.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, disclosed this to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
He stated that while the Commission has received several letters of intent from aspiring political groups, none, including ADA, have fulfilled the requirements to advance to the formal registration process.
Clarifying, Olumekun said they have many letters of intent presently, but none qualify as a formal application yet, insisting that they must first meet the criteria before submitting a letter of intent.
According to sources, ADA’s proponents made a critical error by omitting the word “electoral” in the letter they addressed to the INEC chairman, further affecting their bid for registration.
INEC stated that strict adherence to registration guidelines is mandatory for all prospective political parties seeking approval.
