Asaga Ohafia Agog As Youths, Others Prepare For New Yam Festival Ekpe Masquerade
The people of Asaga Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State will on Saturday September 6, 2025 hold her new yam festival Igba Ekpe ceremony for the year 2025.
This was made known in a sequence of activities released by the Ezieogo in-Council, led by Eziego Asaga, His Royal Regency, Chief Oba Uka Onugu.
The festival which brings sons and daughters of the community from far and near together showcases the culture and tradition of the Asaga people who are blessed with various tourism sites.
Visitors during the festival have the opportunity to visit the isiakwu stream where Uma Ukpai Ezema, the progenitor of the Asaga People first drank from.
The water has been proven to have a healing power due to its high alkaline value.
Other sites that can be visited include: Obu Nkwa Deity, Eji Ndu, Okpupku Ishi Oyima and other tourist sites.
As Ndi Asaga return home for the Igba Ekpe festival, which is one of the activities sequenced in celebration of the new yam festival, it is expected that the community will have a bountiful yam harvest this season.
